Would you classify the Las Vegas Strip as an "urban" district? Not Las Vegas as a whole, because we know the city has a lot of sprawl, but what's everyone's opinion of the strip. I would call the Strip an urban district. I don't think it was planned, in a sense like an urban district, but it has evolved into one. I mean you have pedestrians, you have mixed use zoning essentially with the hotels (which include casinos, restaurants, and shops), within walking distance of each other. Now, millionaires like Donald Trump are building actual condos on the strip, where people can actually live. There is some rail connections between the hotels, like the Tram between the south strip hotels, and Vegas monorail. There are also crosswalks and pedestrian bridges to get people across busy Las Vegas Blvd, like in some urban districts around the country. > |
