State other than your own in which you feel connected

Is there a state that you feel a connection with that is not your home state or the one you are living in? If so, why do you feel the connection? I live in Georgia, and I feel a connection with North Carolina. Why? Well, my wife's family is from North Carolina. Whenever I visit North Carolina, the culture and way of life seem very similar. For example, both Georgia and North Carolina are fast growing states, they both have similar patterns of development, and the area of greatest population within both states is the Piedmont. So what about you?>
