James Howard Kunstler on American Urbanism

Hey guys, I'm a New Zealander, doing a town planning degree (in NZ), and two of our course readings were the James Howard Kunstler books 'The Geography of Nowhere' and 'Home from Nowhere'. Just wondering, have any of you read these books? If so what did you think of them, and do you think Kunstler is right about the sad state of American towns and cities. I haven't been to the US myself, but intend on doing so at some stage to get my own idea of what American cities are actually like. Cheers >
